Improvements: Lining up the rails to install the bolts was a bit tricky
Excellent Rack!

I was skeptical about spending this much on a hitch rack, but I’m glad I did! It’s super easy to raise and lower and is surprisingly lightweight for an ebike rack. Great product!

Best Rack Ever!

I have had this rack for over a month now and it has been such a joy to own. I no longer have to take off tires to get my bikes onto a rack or into my car. I can still get my gear into my trunk while bikes are on the rack using the easy drop handle at the end, not underneath like other brands. It fits great on my Subaru Crosstrek! might have to get the extension now! My only small complaint is that the included lock could be a little longer, but they have a place to put another lock.

Likes: The bonus of the integrated, ample lock loop allowing me to add heavy duty chain locks to both bikes.
Improvements: I would prefer a hitch pin that goes all the way through the receiver. I get that the mechanism that tightens down the rack in the receiver probably doesn't allow for that, but I would hate for that mechanism to fail and not be able to use the rack.
Stage Two

Saying this rack is sturdy is an understatement. It's just about bomb proof and has all the right features (tiered trays, trunk access tilt, same key locks for the bikes and receiver, hook arm to secure bikes without frame damage) that I was looking for to transport my e-bikes. Also loved the ability to adjust the horizontal offset of the trays - I narrowed it down because my bikes could still fit and it diminished bike protrusion out from the sides of my compact Honda HR-V. A bit heavy, but a nice, solid product!

Stage 2 Fantastic

Purchased the Stage 2. Exceeded all expectations. It is built bomb proof. Packaged very well and arrived unharmed. Other reviews talk about the assembly process and bolt alignment I had no issues at all and centered the trays with no problem - may have got lucky. Total time was under 30 minutes. Now I just need to find a friend to bike with to fill the other tray. :)

Improvements: It was tricky to attach the trays to the spine of the rack. It was not easy to screw the bolts into the nuts, like they weren’t machined properly.
Solid bike rack

It is very easy to load bikes onto this rack, and they are very secure when driving, even on rough gravel roads. It’s also very easy to tilt the rack down with bikes on to access the back hatch of the car, and to tilt the rack up when not carrying bikes.

This bike rack saved my vehicle and life!

Don’t let the other negative reviews about this stage two bike rack deter you. The quality and structure of this rack is sound, durable, and well built. I had an Holdup Evo and could tell it just wasn’t going to last long term well with how heavy our e-bikes are (the front tire arm holders especially). Whereas the rigid/flat bar of the stage two just makes more sense; it allows you to also ratchet the bikes down to the rack for long distance driving to eliminate the wobble completely.
My wife and infant son were rear-ended this week. Everyone was ok thankfully. We drive a 4Runner and this bike rack saved the rear hatch of my vehicle and even the lives of those in the car by taking the blunt force of the Ford Expedition that came barreling in at 35-40mph. Needless to say, I am immediately replacing the rack I had with another one as soon as I can. Thank you Yakima for protecting my family with your product!

Fantastic Rack

Love this rack. Very study and all the features, including the security for the rack itself and the bikes are easy to use. The installation was very easy, with great instructions, both written, which you don't need a magnifying glass to read, and video. The ramp is helpful, especially for my wife, she is able to load and unload on her own. Highly recommend!!
