EXO LitKit

We added this kit to the Yakima eBike rack on the back of our RV. We installed this kit properly and on our very first road trip, one of the two fasteners on the license plate holder side of the kit worked itself loose and fell off while driving 60 MPH. The license plate began dragging on the freeway and was damaged. Luckily, my wife was in her car behind me and immediately contacted me to pull over. We were both shocked that Yakima would create such a poor system. When checking the three remaining fasteners, we found one of them was also loose and in need of tightening. To be clear, I installed this with a engineer/tech friend of mine who is very detail oriented. We installed this properly. For the fasteners to work themselves loose on our very first road trip was dissappointing. I have also read another review about this kit where the exact same thing happened. Yakima, please fix this so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I would not recommend this kit until Yakima reengineers this product.

If you use a swing base and gear locker, having the lite kit is a must have. I went a period of time without and that was a mistake. Very happy to have added it for safety. Not too hard to install, works just like it should.

The lights work great for braking/turning/hazards and license plate illumination as well. Very bright LED’s. I didn’t have to relocate my license plate with the setup on my Subaru Outback (at least for now), but if i have to when adding the EXO TopShelf... its nice knowing the bracket for the plate is rubber and able to bend in case it scrapes on the ground because of the departure angle. One could disconnect the license plate LED’s if they want, the harness is clearly labeled. Easy mounting and dismounting after initial setup. Must remove lights and wiring harness’ before closing the swing arms, which seems like good practice anyhow as they are hand tightened screws (Easy for someone to remove). The license plate screws can be finger tightened (tool free), another easy on/off design.
