These are the crossbars that I waited about 7 months for that I ordered to come on my Leer truck camper shell. I drove down the road after install and immediately heard the whistle. I noticed the ends are open, the end caps are missing. I was told the end caps are expected to arrive in April 2022 and this should end the whistling.
I've decided on the JetStream to utilize the T-Slot kit for my pair of High Road mounts. Love the slim profile and overall design. While there's still wind noise... I opted to get the WindShield Fairing to reduce it even more. Thanks.
Got these crossbars for the top of my truck canopy. They are super quiet and the black looks amazing. Everything I expected! Would recommend to anyone
I bought a SnugTop camper shell for my pickup and had tracks, Skyline mounts, with Jetstream crossbars installed. They whistled like crazy above 30 mph. I little research found that they neglected to reinstall the rubber inserts in the bottom of the Jetstream crossbars after setting up the Skyline mounts for track width. If you obtain the PDF install instructions you will find that rubber insert is removed to set mounts to track width. Then they should be cut and reinstalled. Once I got the rubber inserts provided to me and installed them all whistle noise ceased. The Jetstream crossbars are very sleek looking and strong. The plastic end caps should be aluminum at this price point and attached with a set screw.
Bought this rack on my truck cap, this rack whistles at 30 mph and above.
These are very well constructed bars and they seem very strong for how light they are. They also look cool which is an added bonus. I’m really glad I chose these. I installed them with landing pads and sky towers on my Ram Promaster City. After some measuring it was easy to install and I love that they are easy to remove when I’m not using them (attached to the sky towers). I love that the sky towers have locks you can install for security. I haven’t noticed any noise increase since I’ve installed them, so they are quiet.
I bought a set of these Jetstream bars, hoping to quiet the wind noise I was getting, particularly at highway speeds, over the old round bars I had on my 2014 Audi Allroad. Nope, sorry! Still lots of noise, more of a whistling sound, even at speeds as low as 30 mph! So I'm disappointed with the noise but I plan to buy a 40" fairing the next time Yakima products are on sale at REI, which should take care of the problem (fingers crossed). I think the amount of wind noise you get with these bars is very dependent on your particular car, so it's kind of a hit-or-miss proposition. I will say, though, that these bars look sharp and are very well constructed, with some real engineering in how they attach to the towers and the towers to the Audi side rails.
Considering the excellent engineering of the Yakima line, I was disappointed to find that my rear bar is about 5/8 inch lower than the front bar, relative to level with 32” spacing. Carrying long boards, the slope is apparent and will result in unnecessary drag. Called support and was advised that there is no solution with sizing of the landing pads, all they could offer was a suggestion for additional padding to bring the load to level.
I installed the 70" JetStream cross bars on my 2017 F250SD. They look FANTASTIC and I'm sure they will do great carrying my canoe/kayaks. The issue I have is that they are supposed to be "quieter" than round or square bars, but in this particular install they are VERY loud at any speed above 35 mph. I guess I'll have to purchase a fairing to make the sound manageable, but then why would should I have invested in the "JetStream" model that is supposed to already be quiet??? Anyway, they do look good and install went well.
I purchased a set for my 2018 A4 Allroad to replace the round bars I have had for 20+ years. The Yakima website is not user friendly and I purchased a medium set which were too big for my car. Returning is somewhat easy, call in and they email you information on how and where to return. I went to my local dealer and purchased the set of small bars and installed quick and easy. The noise level is minimal and they look great. Attached an Audi cargo box to it and it works beautifully. I am sad that my bike attachments that are 20+ years old cannot work on this new system, so I have to wait until Spring 2018 to buy new bike attachments. Skybox also does not fit these bars so that is why I purchased the Audi Cargo Box (small), plus it looks great with the new bars. As Yakima brings out new products, they need to think of long time users of round bars that move to Jet or Aero Bars and how to convert old pieces of equipment to the new bars.
