      how to stop noise

Installed on 2016 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab. Over 35 mph the noise started up and got worse the faster I went. I found on YouTube that if you take 1/4" plus rope and wrap it around bars about every 3" it deflects the wind and you do not get that noise. Hope this helps someone. It worked for me.

      Quiet

Last year we hauled our 18', 80 lb kayak - from Indiana to Wyoming and back; lots of high MPH and winds - using the new Showdown system with the traditional round bars (we have had the round bars for years). That worked great, although the wind noise was bothersome, and the Showdown wanted to twist just a bit. This year, same trip, replaced the round bars with the core bars and timberline towers. All else remained the same. Amazing difference. The wind noise all but disappeared, and the entire system was as solid as a rock.

      Great

Installed these on a 2014 Prius V. No wind noise to speak of and I do not have the deflector on it. Easy to install by one but would be way easier with two people. Has not had a negative impact on my MPG.

Well made but noisy above 40mph

Fit and finish of the corebar/baseline system is faultless. I put my set on the roof of my 2017 Ford F150 supercab. The base measurements given in the online look up were incorrect for proper fit on the front rack; I needed to add 1/2" to the spread to get the rubber rack feet to mount correctly into the roof channel. The initial road test showed that the system created a whistle/howl noticeable above 40 mph. At around 65 it is extremely intrusive, and at 75 it is like being in a windstorm. I checked the mount, and then began adjusting the racks rearward from the specified measurement from the windshield in an effort to decrease wind noise. At max aft positioning, wind noise was somewhat reduced, but still very noticeable. I also attempted to change bar pitch angle, but this didn't produce any significant reduction in wind noise.. at a loss as to why this system is noisier than my old cheapy Econoline rack system that used a 2x4 mounted to gutter clamps!?

      A Whole New Yakima

After being a Yakima customer since I was 16 (now 38), I was thoroughly intrigued when I heard there was going to be a NEW, quieter and stronger load bar. I've got the CoreBars installed on the roof of a 2015 4Runner and over the cap of a 2013 Tacoma and will admit that wind noise is hardly noticeable in these applications. Our CoreBars carry roof top tents and will typically bare the weight of 2.5 people (125 lbs tent + 450 lbs people) when the trucks are at camp and stationary. These bars are such a big step up in the right direction from where Yakima was with the Round Bars.

      COREBAR w/ Baseline Towers

I just installed the COREBAR with Baseline Towers on my '14 4dr Accord. I love the look, the fit is far better than the last set from another manufacturer, and the instructions were spot on. The only shortcoming is the road noise above 35 mph. It doesn't seem to get any louder the faster I go. It's one of those frequencies that the radio won't drown out too. I'm gonna see installed accessories will reduce the buzz.
