I bought Fullback 3 used at REI parking lot sale and fantastic on 2015 Subaru Legacy. No problem loading 2-3 bikes. However, tried to install and use on wife's 2016 Toyota Prius and not so easy install and open the hatchback with it on not as easy as Subaru. Still this is my second Yakima bike rack still have my first one just in case I ever go back to an SUV.
I installed the fullback 2 perfectly, according to instructions - hub setting, anchors, positioning on car - even had my bike shop check it when I went to pick up my bikes. Drove around 2 miles before I noticed that the rack looked slightly lower than originally positioned. When I pulled over, I saw that my top rear spoiler had buckled. No photos because I immediately removed the bikes and racks in a frenzy to not cause further damage. Thankfully, the spoiler popped back into shape. So glad I noticed before driving any farther. I'll give the rack a try on my Subaru WRX, but it's definitely not for the X3.
I was shopping for months/year for a 3 bike rack. My tow hitch was to small for a 3 bike rack, I was too short for roof racks and I did not want to buy a bigger vehicle just to take the whole family out of town to ride bikes. No where on the internet could I fine one that would fit....until I went to REI they suggested I look up my car and see if this rack would fit, to my surprise and relief the 2017 Chevrolet Volt was listed. I immediately ordered it , due to high demand I had to wait a month. When it came, in the REI parking lot I slapped it on my truck. It was perfect. It fits 3 bikes ranging from adult 6ft to a child 4ft. I read reviews a about bending and denying the trunk, I did places it with great car to insure the best results and when I took it off there was no evidence I had even used it. I am very impressed and I love that If I need use it on a different car it will most likely also fit.
Although the site says that the Fullback is not compatible with my 2017 G80 I went ahead and tried it.
It definitely fits the Genesis G80.
First off, I bought this trunk rack as id previously been using the roof top Frontloader and while that is a solid rack I just got tired of trying to throw my Trek Stache on top of my Jeep renegade. Yakima is reputable and builds a quality product. There are a few reasons I did not rate this 5 stars. 1) Yakima instructs you to mount your bike in the position closest to your vehicle when hauling a single bike. The integrated lock only reaches the rack position furthest from your vehicle, rendering the lock useless for the inner-most position when hauling a single bike per the instructions. 2) there is a Phillips head screw protruding underneath on the non-lock bearing side that, when used with Yakima brand Tube Top adapter, scratched my top tube. 3) when reaching out to Yakima about this issue, though they responded quickly, I was advised to essentially “tape it with gorilla tape or use flex seal” over the screw head. 3) the geometry of my Stache and the Tube Top adapter makes it difficult to mount the bike on the rack. The zip strip to hold the Tube Top adapter has to go BENEATH my saddle between the saddle and frame in order for me to be able to zip strip the seat tube in tightly and securely. This requires finagling that honestly is about as annoying as pulling out a step ladder to throw my bike up top on the Frontloader I was originally using. Overall, without my bikes geometry and having to use the Tube Top adapter this rack would probably be 5 stars. But still there’s the issue of the lock being useless for a single bike when mounted in the position closest to your vehicle and the protruding screw to be wary of. I’ve taken my bike on this rack on the Atlantic City Expressway doing 80-85 without ever feeling like my bike was moving about. The rack itself is sturdily constructed, just a few flaws for me.
I bought this rack for my 2020 Volvo V90 and it is very sturdy however following the directions and only carrying 2 bikes, it managed to crack the back window. The top straps in the recommended anchor position also caused the spoiler to deflect slightly under both straps. The lower support only transferred black residue which was easy to clean off. While it is a very well built bike rack, I would not recommend it for a Volvo V90.
I just bought this Yakima FullBack 2 for my 2016 Audi A3 and it works and fits GREAT!! I had used a Saris Bike Rack in the past, but it would move around and rattle constantly. The Yakima is snug and doesn't move or make a sound at all. It fits so securely to the trunk of my Audi that I know longer have to worry about losing my bike on the freeway! Great Product!
Received my Fullback 2 through Etrailer web store. The rack appears to be and is made of high quality materials. The problem arose from the installation directions. I went to the website listed to find the setting for the support bar for my car a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. Website says to set it #2, making sure the the #2 lines up with the notch on the rack, so far so good. Drove about 20 miles with two bikes on the rack, again so far so good. After the ride I wanted to make sure I was putting the bikes on right, as I had left the paper directions at home I went to the website and at this point I see the installation video. Video says to make sure lower support rests on lower edge of the trunk. The paper directions don’t really make this clear that it shouldn’t rest on the plastic bumper at all. So for my car the suggested setting the support does rest on the trunk but also partially on the bumper. Well when I took off the rack the support had damaged my bumper, two indentations where it was touching the bumper- not good. I can buff out the small amount of marring, but the damage to the bumper would require replacement. Also video mentions to use the lock cable to secure the bikes, well mine came with the keys for the lock , but no cable. I will follow up with support and see what they say. Basically rack is well made so if it fits your car properly I’m sure it’s great. It’s also supposed to fit a Mini Cooper, our other car, as of now with the damage to the Elantra, I won’t risk putting it on the Mini. The main reason we chose the rack was that it supposedly fit both cars. Probably does if you’re willing to accept a little damage.
I bought this from my local bike shop on there recommendation and I love the feel of this rack it feels strong and sturdy but when I put it on my 2019 civic lx it has issues. ( I've had to reinstall it my own way to feel safe putting my bikes on it.) 1 : it is pulling my trunk away from the car even with no bikes on it. 2: it will NOT FIT 3 mountain bikes on it. I have to put the 2nd bike on the spot furthest from the trunk as the pedals and the bars and the derailleur rub and get stuck through spokes!!!! 3: the bikes I have weigh 30 and 32 lbs and with both of them on the rack the rack arms sag and the bikes bounce quit a bit. 4 : I put the rack on per the paper instructions and per the video instructions and the bikes are really close to the ground and sticking way out the back.
I've run into a lot of trouble similar to the above review. The utmost problem being that the lower support put dents(!) in my bumper. I can't open the hatchback if the rack is on, which is obvious in retrospect. It's really a pain in the ass to install - really a 2 person job so that the car doesn't get scratched. So not quick to get on and off, but needs to be removed frequently so that I can use the trunk. Maybe this item isn't worthy of the 2 star quality review, but I'm pretty provoked because the fit guide says it works on a Hyundai Ioniq.
