Idaho. You’ve got potatoes.

And crazy laws.

You can’t fish from a camel’s back. Can’t give someone a box of candy over 50 pounds.

Thank your lucky stars you also have McCall.

So you can do stuff like this when your camel’s out of commission.

And you can get your fun on all year long.

Winter Carnival and Brundage Ski Resort might convince you winter’s the most fun.

Actually, it’s summer. No wait, fall.

Man, this is hard.

Either way, it’s all good. If you can’t find some fun in McCall, you’re doing it wrong.

So get out there and have confidence that, after you’ve played fun hog for the day, there are plenty of noms to be had along with some tasty beverages to wash it down.

Outdoor towns.

They rule.

You already know the parts and pieces:

Bike stuff out the hoo-ha.

Dirtbag climber refugee zones.

Rivers. ‘Nuff said.

If you take all that stuff and cover it in sausage gravy, you get Brevard, NC.

Like to ride? Point your fat tires in any direction.

If you climb then you’re already aware of the eyebrows on Looking Glass.

And paddlers can almost always spank the monkey.

Little known romantic fact for lovebird-types: The Brevard area has more waterfalls per whatever than anywhere else in the country.

Now you know. Go there.

Tiny towns hold a mystique all their own, from the people who live there to the fun to be had while visiting. This new series explores that phenomenon.

The post Get to Know a Tiny Town | Series Intro appeared first on Road Trips.

Road trips are filled with the obscure.

Tiny towns with names like Loogootee, Bummerville, and Idaho Beer Bottle Crossing.

Yeah, that last one’s in Georgia.

But you know what? You should be proud when you’re in the fruitcake capital of the world (also in Georgia. Damn!).

And if there’s climbing?

Or boating?

Or biking?

Or whatever outside-ish activity that makes that place a backwater beacon for those who wander but are not lost?

Then you should get to know that place.

Hence this new series.

Enjoy.
